A. Thunder, the massive black beast Merlan had chosen to become her warhorse, was getting a workout as she put him through his paces. He was learning well and quickly, especially when they went hunting and he learned to find her and she learned to mount him like a trick rider. There had to be a level of trust and Merlan was building it day by day. His tack was spelt to knock back anything trying to attack him, which honestly came in handy when he nearly had his rump chomped on by some sort of serpent.
Now, she was practising calls and mounting while he went by at a gallop. She trained him to slow one beat as he passed her, which gave her just enough time to mount. The other one they were working on way too early in the morning was picking up a lost sword while she hung from the saddle to grab it.
"Easy, easy," she said, moving with the canter as Thunder passed the hilt of her discarded sword, she caught it and flipped it back into its scabbard on her back before righting herself as the horse slowed into a trott and then a walk. "That's right, you're a good boy and yes you will get the first of the carrots, my friend."
Her face was a mess of dirt, a little bit of mud and there were definite puddles she'd fallen into while practising. She was getting better at it and so was Thunder. Mutual progress was always a wonderful thing.

She swung the hammer down, the heat of the fire making her sweat as she kept pounding, tapping, shaping the metal into what she wanted it to become. It was the newest test sword in a line, forged with magical ingredients for a razor-sharp sword no matter the metal. This time, it was silver, though she had decided to do rune-work in pewter or maybe copper. Something more artsy. She'd purchased a nice engraving set from a passing caravan and was itching to try it out. Her years playing with sigils and the like on vehicle metal were paying off and she had gotten rather good with it of late. Having essentially nothing to do but work on new inventions and the like helped her creativity in leaps and bounds.
New combinations of bindrunes were always fascinating to her as well as shaping sigils around or through them. So, she kept working on the sword, shaping it to the tune of a rather bawdy song she'd heard a few nights prior. It had a good rhythm and she plunged the sword into water with a hiss of steam and fire. It was hard and once she was finished sharpening it, gleamed wickedly as she started the engraving process. First she worked tirelessly on the runes, then she very gently coated the blade with a waxen to keep the engraved non-engraved parts of the blade clean, before tapping a powdered mixture into the runes. It was them melted over the fire, the waxen mixture dropping off, and then cooled a moment later.
She turned the sword this way and that before starting on the naked haft with entirely different materials. There was leather involved, rowan wood, magic that bound it together, and a few gems but it was a warrior's sword. Light, quick to cut through the air, and had good heft. Once it was finished, she tested it out, parrying and slashing, feinting and dodging with grace as she fought with her shadow. Satisfied, she lay down a few spells to enhance the skill of the user and use a minor holy light to blind and confuse foes susceptible to it. It also made a hell of a distraction.

If there's aynone in need around, Merlan is there to help! In fact, she'll even bring her warhorse so they can kick some ass if needed.
