🌿 outburst

Cassandra has never felt quite so warm. The weather is pleasant, as is the temperature... but somehow she is just... utterly roasting. It comes in fits and starts, and it’s driving her to distraction. When it strikes her she ends up slipping into her room and removing as many layers as is possible while still remaining... dressed. Scandalous, perhaps, but she doesn’t care. Her dreams have been different as well; in shades of orange and red, like there are flames flickering somewhere she cannot see.

She’s sitting and drawing in her journal, absentmindedly – doodles that mostly consist of the symbol and flames, with the occasional more detailed drawing of Vasari forest, lit up by the strange red-orange glow.

“Would you leave me ALONE!” The outburst catches her by surprise, and she looks up at the innkeeper and tavern owner in shock. Who had simply been coming over to check on her, nothing more. Oh, Pelor. What was going on with her? “I’m so sorry. I don’t... I don’t know what came over me.”

The innkeeper looks worried; he’s never seen her that short-tempered before. (He has no doubt that she can be, but she’s never been anything but warm and friendly with him.) “Let me get you something to eat. I never see you eating much. That can wreak havoc with you.”

She nods, ashamed. “Thank you. That would be lovely.”

As he leaves she buries her face in her hands. She’s never been so irritable, before. Short-tempered, her mood-swinging every which way abruptly and without warning. Or, she’s never been so unable to hide it before. She’s usually much better about keeping a rein on her emotions.
