A Wizard Arrives Several opens and one Closed prompt.
WHO: Merlin
WHEN: Like, now and recently
WHAT: Arrival, meetings, and more
WHERE: All over
WARNINGS: None yet, will change as needed.
Arrival
Some days, the multiverse was out to get you. Some days, it just decided you needed a break. And some days, you really couldn't figure out which was which. This day was he latter for merlin as he opened a door to buy some lunch for himself and his lady love, and walked through, only to find himself standing in the middle of a very much not New Dodge esque store, but instead in the middle of a town square that looked more like what he had known as a child.
"Seriously? Already? Fucking Multiverse!"
The door was gone before he finished even stepping through and he swore as he realized that once more he had been plucked away from what he knew, and who, and dropped somewhere new. But was it hell or heaven, or something else? Merlin was not sure, but he was going to find out.
With an oath in ancient proto-Welsh, he lifted his staff and strode forward, his robes shimmering and seeming to absorb light almost, his expression somewhere between angry and resigned.

Wandering in Town
He wandered across the businesses in town. From Bank to apothecary, from blacksmith to market, finally slowly wandering through that area and browsing the offerings as he thought. No one knew what was going on or why he was here. and that was frustrating. However, his wandering and conversation with the apothecary did net him a job offer, if he decided to stay, and a room in the inn.
He was still deciding what to do as he wandered the market.

At the edges of night
And at the evening's coming, as the light faded, screams sounded. Merlin, still seeking answers, heeded their call. He ran, and came around a corner, staff clutched in one hand as he spotted beings of almost insubstantial darkness, whirling around two small children, impacting the kids and sending them reeling, screaming, even as a mother and father, pinned by a fallen piece of a mausoleum, could do nothing but look on in fear and pain.
With an oath, Merlin spat words older than English, and his eyes flared a deep black color as bolts of shimmering darkness flared from his staff and leape3d to attack the wraiths. There was a sound like the impact of a car on car, as one bolt slammed into a wraith, and it was gone, bringing screams of rage from the others.
"Turn and fight, ye enemies of life. Come face a foe who can fight back!" His enemy echoed from him as Merlin moved forward, staff a sleek black wood thing with runes carved along its length.
Looking for their enemy, the wraiths spotted Merlin who strode toward them, rage in his face, and eyes blazing golden now, and they screamed in sounds like nails on ethereal chalkboards, and charged the wizard.

For Emma from here.
"Do I know what this place is? Not exactly. But it is easy to see if it another nexus, like New Dodge, and the Enterprise before that place. A place where many will be drawn, and where strange things will happen."
He gently touched her face, the face of this woman he did love. Gods, he was a lucky man.
"A chance, once more, for us to hope for peace, and fight for that peace when hope fails."

She and Caitlin had gone over the circumstances of their arrival so many times.
"What were you doing right before you came here?"
no subject
"Opening a door into a store. I walked through, the door vanished, and I was out in the woods, with no warning at all."
he waves a hand, a glimmer of light slicing away into the woods.

"What the hell was that?"

He gestured and the light appeared again, this time much slower, as a shot away from him.
