Arrival

For a time, as she wandered towards the town, Daenerys had assumed that she was still in the Red Sea. Drogon was gone and the Dothraki scout had disappeared, but the vast wilderness was largely the same. But as her senses adjusted and the shock wore off, it was clear that these two worlds were very different. Without a dragon or her silver to ride, she could only walk to the nearest village or safe haven.

"Gazin", a sign had said. It wasn't familiar and didn't sound like anything from Essos, but it was the nearest and only choice. The sun bared down on her as she reached the outskirts, tired and thirsty, exhausted from the walk and after effects of whatever she had eaten. She hadn't reached the town fully, but needed a moment to catch her breath, finding a large stump to lean on. She could see the town better, the outlines of buildings and houses. Soon enough she would hear the people and smell the scents of village life.

Another figure was walking from the opposite direction, a wanderer no different than her. She smiled as they neared, still tired, but hoping perhaps they might have water. It didn't look it. "Are you lost as well?"

Around Town

There was at least an explanation in time. This place was Gazin, it was another world and they had been brought here by outside forces with no clear indication of when they could leave. There were others from worlds she never heard of, creatures and magic that baffled her, but apparently existed in their realms. With that sort of knowledge, it made meeting others easier in her mind.

Apparently coin was a necessity to, but with few skills outside of ruling, there wasn't much she could offer. Thankfully there was an apothecary who needed an assistant to run errands for him and collect herbs in the mornings. He was too old and too fat to manage, allowing her a bit of freedom to move and work, truly learning by action and involvement.

The better part of the day was delivering commissioned potions or ordered herbs. It allowed her to walk through the village and see the others around her, not simply the natives but those settling in as she was. With an empty basket, she loitered near a few stalls, purchasing something to eat.

"Are you hungry? I could pay for it?"

WHAT: Arrival and hunting
WHERE: Outskirts of Gazin, Outside Vasari Forest

I. Arrival

It happened again it seemed. The sensation of changing worlds was always the same, but the lead up had been different. There wasn't a fire or explosion this time, no folding in on herself, only waking up in a new place and being fully aware that this wasn't the world she knew before. Even the aftermath was different, with clothes actually on her back than burning away along with the ground under her. There were no wounds, no blood and gashes, as though she had just woken from a dream.

It seemed strange to Eufemia that she could actually get to her feet without pain. Her muscles didn't ache and there wasn't any sign of cataclysm around her, which might be a blessing. Whatever happened, it didn't attract attention and gave her a chance to get her bearings. But without the storm that often accompanied this, she could only gather there was something different about this...less her cause and more something else's.

There was a sign at least, something to give her a clue where she might be.

"Gazin," it meant nothing, but that wasn't exactly a surprise by now. "What world is Gazin in?"

II. Vasari Forest

Given how dense and vast the forest was, Eufemia was careful not to venture too far without some sort of life line. She had managed to haggle for some rope along with the makings of snares and traps. She tied the rope to the tree closest to the exit, knotting the other end around her waist. She ventured in, looking for signs of animals and disturbed foliage, remembering the lessons she had learned from the hunters of her tribe. She was still an amateur, but still knowledgeable enough to set a decent trap.

There was no knowing what sort of animals lurking inside, but so long as they had decent meat, it didn't really matter.

She waited outside the woods, not bothering to remove the rope just yet. She had gathered some reeds and started to weave a basket for herself, watching as some others approached, ready to brave the woods for exploration. "I wouldn't go too far in. It's thick in there."

WHO: Claire Temple; Open
WHEN: February 8th-10th
WHAT: Settling in, meeting new people.
WHERE: Gazin
WARNINGS: None

arrival

The arrival at the sign was certainly not as jarring as the fountain was back at the settlement, and yet, there is still an uneasiness about getting transported in the blink of an eye to a place that looks nothing like Cuba. So much for going to see her abuela and her mother. That uneasiness also extends to not really knowing for sure if the town ahead is welcoming to strangers from other worlds or not, though it occurs to her that even the multiverse does things for a reason. So, she sets off to explore her new surroundings.

But not before almost getting run over by a group of horse riders who felt the need to stop and find out what the new person has in her odd-looking rectangular satchel.

settling in

After settling into a room at the inn, Claire took inventory of what she had and what she'd need and clothes were on the top of that list, though without money, she was going to have to make do or advertise her skills. In the meantime, she was able to sell a scarf, some bracelets, a pair of earrings and a few hair clips. All in all, it gave her about 35 gold, so off she went in search of clothing at some of the shops in Gazin.

Later, she could be found eating at the inn where she stayed or at the neighbouring tavern to numb herself with some drinks to numb how overwhelmed she was feeling by everything, though it didn't show. Like the settlement, it would take some time to get used to it all. It was just too bad that a certain Hero of Harlem couldn't have been left behind.
