lucky me
WHO: Claire Temple; Open
WHEN: February 8th-10th
WHAT: Settling in, meeting new people.
WHERE: Gazin
WARNINGS: None
arrival
The arrival at the sign was certainly not as jarring as the fountain was back at the settlement, and yet, there is still an uneasiness about getting transported in the blink of an eye to a place that looks nothing like Cuba. So much for going to see her abuela and her mother. That uneasiness also extends to not really knowing for sure if the town ahead is welcoming to strangers from other worlds or not, though it occurs to her that even the multiverse does things for a reason. So, she sets off to explore her new surroundings.
But not before almost getting run over by a group of horse riders who felt the need to stop and find out what the new person has in her odd-looking rectangular satchel.
settling in
After settling into a room at the inn, Claire took inventory of what she had and what she'd need and clothes were on the top of that list, though without money, she was going to have to make do or advertise her skills. In the meantime, she was able to sell a scarf, some bracelets, a pair of earrings and a few hair clips. All in all, it gave her about 35 gold, so off she went in search of clothing at some of the shops in Gazin.
Later, she could be found eating at the inn where she stayed or at the neighbouring tavern to numb herself with some drinks to numb how overwhelmed she was feeling by everything, though it didn't show. Like the settlement, it would take some time to get used to it all. It was just too bad that a certain Hero of Harlem couldn't have been left behind.

settling in
Xingchen keeps a respectful distance from where she's sitting, his voice naturally soft as he asks the question. He's used to a blind man not always being welcomed, so he's prepared to withdraw until he's sure.
no subject
Good thing she wasn't the type to believe all blind men were the same.
"The soups and stews are really good," she nods, giving the man a warm smile before laughing softly. "I haven't brought myself to try out the dish that I think might be haggis. I'm more of a burrito person really."
no subject
He smiles, approaching when he hears the warmth in her voice.
"I'm not familiar with haggis or bur-ito?" He tilts his head gently. What he heard and what springs from his tongue aren't an exact match. "Maybe I should brave one of these dishes. Soups and stews are the only thing I've made since arriving here."
