Only a fleeting image...
WHO: Song Lan/Song Zichen & OPEN
WHEN: On the day of his arrival.
WHAT: He is trying to find his equilibrium.
WHERE: Gazin
WARNINGS: Grief and there might be some gore depending on how things go (mainly having to do with eyes); I will update as necessary.
Guilt weighs heavily on his shoulders as he wanders the busy streets of Gazin. Seeing Xue Yang with Xingchen had been a shock and some part of him had recoiled, too angry and too disgusted to carry on. But that had only been a small part of him; he had been prepared to face the man and rescue Xingchen from his grasp. Zichen doesn't think his momentary weakness should have been enough to transport him somewhere else entirely.
Yet it had.
Now he has no way of aiding his other half, trapped among crowds he barely sees. Anytime someone brushes against him, he flinches, reacting illogically. Common sense has nothing to do with his fear and he feels his skin crawling. If only he could find an open space - then he might be able to think.
An alleyway must serve that purpose and he leans against a wall, breathing deeply, his expression pained. Poor Xingchen. He has no idea he is in the presence of a murderous monster. If he had his eyes, he would know. But Xue Yang is using his weakness against him.
Zichen will kill him for that. His hand rises to touch Fuxue's hilt and he steadies himself to walk back into the throng.

Her steps falter, she is still not quite certain that it is actually Song Lan she saw disappear into that alleyway. Except, who is she kidding, she is absolutely certain.
She takes a deep breath, hands smoothing down the sides of the red peasant dress she wears though it isn't even crinkled. It would be impossible to forget what Xue Yang had told her about himself, Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen the first time she ran into him in Gazin. The sheer horror of his tale had burned itself into her memory.
This is going to make things complicated...
Although she is of half a mind to turn around and forget that she ever caught sight of him, she forces her feet towards the alley. She needs to find out how much he remembers, at least, and thus just how much bloodshed there will be for her to clean up after.

Her approach has him bowing politely, looking a bit unsure.
"Miss..." he straightens and wonders how best to word his plight, "I have only just arrived and I know nothing about this city."
First things first. Then he can ask more personal - and pertinent - questions.
"My name is Song Zichen." if she doesn't recognize him already. She had approached him with some determination. He thinks she might know of him if nothing else.

"I know who you are, Song Zichen," she says gently. "We have met before when I treated you, not long ago for me. But people are brought here from different points in time, and they often remember similar events differently. It is nothing to worry about."
Which, come to think of it, means she shouldn't have confused him by bringing it up at all. Very well, too late for that now.
"What I mean to say is, welcome to Gazin."

"Gazin...is the name?" Zichen glances around, pressing his lips together, "Who else has come? I admit I do not know everyone's name, but if they are in similar circumstances I should like to help them."

She moves to tuck her hands into her sleeves in an attempt at casualness, only to be reminded that the peasant maid's dress she wears doesn't have wide sleeves like her robes do. She runs her hands over the sides of her dress instead.
"There are a few people from our world, but I don't see most of them often." It is unkind not to tell him, of course, but if Xue Yang learned that she told and feels betrayed, his friendliness can turn murderous quickly enough. She won't forget what he is capable of just because they have been good allies here in Gazin.
"The town is called Gazin, yes, and most people who arrive here are fortunately from relatively similar worlds, such as ours. But a few come from completely different times, or their worlds don't know any dangerous creatures such as this forest does. They are very lost here. I work at the apothecary."
