Seasonal Event: Oktoberfest

WHAT: It’s that time of year, Fall is in the air, the trees are changing, and Gazin is celebrating Harvest! Below you will find celebrations and prompts for your consideration.

Catfe Gerdri
A small cafe opened its doors onto its friendly little street. Inside it was selling hot drinks with funny names to make its clientele laugh for the season. There were pumpkin drinks and apple drinks, drinks made with coffee, drinks made with tea but the real draw was its cats. There were cats of all sizes and all needed to be pet and loved on. They were even autumn colours; creams and whites, gingers and deep browns. Some of them were up for adoption and had little red collars on with little golden bells. They looked fancy and neat and ready to travel.

In the cool autumn air, come in for a hot drink, meet fellow travellers, and stay for the fabulous company of Mrs Gerdri’s cats. If you’re looking for a job, the cat lady herself is hiring! Must love cats.

Harvest Festival
Gather around! It’s that time of year of harvest and merriment that no other season can do just right! It’s the Harvest Festival in Gazin, of course! There’s games and prizes to be won, music and laughter, magic to be seen, and all sorts of harvest foods to be had. Try some cake, have some bread, make something magical for a friend!

Whatever you choose, leave room for dancing because Gazin sure goes all out with spectacle and music and their finest of beers. There’s something for everyone at the Harvest Festival, which will run for six weeks before it’s done.

Gazin’s Shield Day
Lan Wangji, Wei Wuxian, Xue Yang, Wen Kexing, Zhou Zishu, Merlan O’Keefe and many other locals have been busy for quite some time working on a citywide shielding project for Gazin. On this day, they’re making it official with the revealing of the project in its final state. It’s enough of an accomplishment that it’s become a bonafide celebration in itself. There will be a magic fireworks display as well as festivities. With so many talented magic users in on this feat, its success is assured.

Monsters beware, Gazin is now officially protected!

He laughs, helpless against his soulmate's delightful answers. Always.

Just how Zishu takes his hand though sends shivers through him - just as the other man intended. Always so mischievous! Kexing tugs to pull Zishu slowly into his arms, then leans in to nuzzle an ear and murmur into it.

"You are my everything, A-Xu. Equals is a word that doesn't hold a candle to you."

Zishu isn't usually a selfish man. He allows himself enough to survive, of course, and to keep himself emotionally intact, but beyond that, he usually doesn't indulge. Except when it comes to his soulmate. With him, Zishu seeks attention shamelessly, demanding and teasing until he hears his beloved's laugh. Then he laughs too, leaning into the hold with a sigh.

"How nice that we agree. My Lao Wen, there isn't any point in living - in existing - without you."

Wen Kexing likes his clothes and dressing those he cares about well. When they could eat and drink normal food, he liked opulence.

But he is just as happy now, with just snow and ice...Because he has his soulmate. He hears that sigh and it lifts his heart as he guides his beloved to where there is open space for dancing - sparing the puppy an order to stay put, which has the puppy pout before plopping down obediently.

Kexing rests their foreheads together as he starts moving them to the music. "We've both proven that fact." His hair alone screams his devotion to Zhou Zishu.

That hair is gorgeous. Zishu is reminded of the sacrifice Kexing made for him each time he sees the pale strands. How could he forget his soulmate slumping forward, releasing his hands as he died? And all of it was to free him; to give him a chance to live endlessly with the one he has always loved.

Once they settle into the dance, he tucks himself close and grins into Kexing's eyes.

"I love you." and he always will, "You came back to me; that makes you mine."

He'd make that sacrifice a thousand times.

But he also remembers waking up. Them learning, together, how to share the necessary energy for them both to live.

Kexing smiles and steals a kiss as they dance, moving seamlessly together without any effort at all. "You didn't let go. That makes me yours." Another kiss. "I love you too, my A-Xu."

He won't have to. Zishu had happily cut what Kexing he had given him in half to revive his soulmate. There would be no point in existing alone.

Humming his approval against those mischievous lips, Zishu follows his beloved without a single slip or mistake.

"What's mine is yours." and that includes his life, "All I've ever wanted is for you to stay with me."

Since they were children. He grins and nuzzles their lips, stealing several kisses in quick succession back.

"You look gorgeous with white hair."

They are of one mind and heart now. Kexing happily leads them through the steps of the dance, enjoying the music and the joy of holding his beloved soulmate so very close.

"You have me forever," he promises seriously, then seals it with another kiss. With his memories completely unlocked, he remembers wishing he could have stayed with Zishu from the day they'd met, as children.

The quick little kisses make him chuckle, seriousness fading away. And the compliment makes him preen, eyes too bright for it to be anything but silliness. "Of course I do. I have white hair because I have my A-Xu."

"Forever doesn't sound like long enough. It's a good start, however." Zishu murmurs against Kexing's lips, gazing at his beloved tenderly. He has come back to him - fully - and Zishu refuses to ever let him go. Those memories are precious and he purposefully pecks Kexing's lips playfully, encouraging him to laugh.

"Your A-Xu is with you because of what caused that white hair. You scared me." he adds quietly, pressing their foreheads together, "My soul is yours; I will keep you with me, Lao Wen."

"A start," he murmurs in agreement, smiling against his soulmate's soft lips. The pecking of those lips has the desired effect, making him laugh without restraint and playfully spins his beloved before tugging him right back into his arms in time for their foreheads to nestle together so perfectly.

Even with the soul-shivery topic. The memory of terror, of being terrified of losing his soulmate after finally finding him. "You were going to leave me. I couldn't stand that, and the old monster gave me what I needed to save you." He takes a breath, then presses a soft kiss to his beloved's lips again.

"If your soul is mine, then you have to stay with me until our soul ceases to exist."

The spin surprises him into a full laugh and he settles back into Kexing's arms with a low hum. Pale strands of perfectly white hair are stroked while they move together and he kisses his beloved to chase away those frightening memories. They're just memories now.

"I never would have asked you to go that far for me." Zishu murmurs truthfully, "I regretted those nails; I regretted forgetting that you existed. My perfect match. My soulmate." he deepens the next kiss, smiling, "I'm not going anywhere, love. We are one."

He love those laughs. Every sign of life is a reason to rejoice. Kexing hums into those kisses, letting his husband draw him away from memories that threaten to bring him back to madness.

But he still pouts. "You never ask me for anything, A-Xu." The pout is chased away with the next breath, the next soft kiss that grows deeper and leaves him humming happily as they continue to move easily with the music.

"We're Fated, my A-Xu. We belong together and will always find each other."

Memories have no power over them. Not anymore. They have broken free of those shackles and found a heaven of their own.

"Why should I ask when you already know my heart?" Zishu licks at Kexing's lips, playful, loving, encouraging his beloved to enjoy a game. His rosy cheeks give away how much he enjoyed that round!

"I know that. I will never forget again."

Despair... Tragedy... None of it can take his Kexing from him.

He shudders at that lick and those words, heat flooding him at the memories his beloved provoke. And that blush! Kexing grins with delight and nuzzles those rosy cheeks, kissing his way up to murmur in his husband's ear.

"Maybe I need a reminder, A-Xu~"

Maaaaybe he's inching them away from the musicians. Happily letting himself be distracted.

Zishu is melting into each kiss, each nuzzle, willing to give his beloved anything. Everything. His hands lower to hold onto Kexing's hips, possessive in their grip.

"Maybe you will get one, Lao Wen. I do love you more than life itself."

He doesn't mind being led away, though he does call their puppy to follow them.

Anything and everything. Always. Just the two of them. Kexing settles under that possessive grip and kisses Zishu's ear again.

"I love you too, my A-Xu."

Once they're away from the music, he stops the dancing and claims one of his husband's hands to hold as they walk home. He beams when Zishu calls their puppy to their side again. No one left behind. No one forgotten.

He gives a shiver and chuckles, entwining their fingers as they walk side by side. The puppy is eager to join them, beaming as he runs to catch up. Zishu pauses just long enough to rub over a pair of soft ears.

"Good boy."

No. No one is ever left behind. He leans against Kexing as they walk.

"We should carve pumpkins."

When Zishu pauses, Kexing does too and also rubs over the puppy's soft ears, smiling approvingly down at the good pup.

Starting to walk again, he relinquishes his husband's hand to wrap his arm around Zishu's waist. The suggestion has him grinning, curiosity clear in his eyes.

"Is that what you want to do?" Obviously it is, so he tightens his hold on his husband's waist. "How big a pumpkin do you want to get?"

The puppy barks proudly and then wiggles onto the path leading home. He has toys to find and games to play!

Zishu smiles and slips his arm around Kexing's waist in return. He peers into his beloved's beautiful eyes and grins to himself.

"Yes." he lays his head on his husband's shoulder, "Mm I would like one that is big enough for a proper carving. I have an idea."

How is he possibly supposed to resist leaning in and kissing his husband when Zishu looks at him like that? He can't! So he doesn't~ Then rests his head against the top of his husband's, holding him just a little tighter as he guides them down the path to their home.

Only to pause and nuzzle Zishu's hair a little. "We should get the pumpkin first before going home, A-Xu."

If that's really what his soulmate wants, then that's what they'll just have to do.

He can't! Zishu is begging for a kiss, obviously, and he grins when he is given what he wants. He certainly doesn't have any complaints over being held so close either. His Lao Wen is incredibly romantic~

"Mm you're right." he pauses too and turns back to find where the pumpkins are being grown. He steps over to the patches and smiles at the great orange gourds. After deliberating, he picks up a large pumpkin that requires both of his arms to lift.

"This one will do~"

Of course he gets what he wants! Zishu is his everything. And Kexing likes holding and kissing him~

Speaking of kisses, he claims another one before letting his husband go, though he stays close. The size of the pumpkin Zishu picks makes him chuckle. "Do you want to get a second one?" If so, he will just have to steal that big pumpkin from his beloved so Zishu can get the second pumpkin of his desire!

His lips tingle and he feels alive as he picks up the big pumpkin. The chuckle makes him grin and he tilts his head at the offer. A second...?

For their animals. He nods and points out a smaller gourd. If his beloved would be so kind to lift that one? He can manage the big one! Actually he seems quite satisfied to hug the pumpkin.

"Our puppy needs one."

He likes kissing his husband perhaps a bit too much! Not that that'll ever stop him. Stroking a hand down Zishu's back, he blinks over at the smaller pumpkin and huffs, giving his beloved a knowing look that is far too soft to be at all upset or scolding.

"As my husband wishes," he murmurs, and moves over to scoop up the gourd before paying for their purchases. "Let's go home and carve these to your wishes."

What? The little pumpkin is adorable! Zishu grins, unapologetic, and flushes at those sweet words.

"Am I taking advantage of you?" he queries, voice lowering as they walk home, "I'll make it up to you. I know how to take your breath away, Lao Wen."

And it has nothing to do with carving pumpkins.

It is! Just as his husband is.

His heart skips a beat at the promise and Kexing can only gaze fondly at him. Oh, he could say Zishu isn't taking advantage of him.

But it doesn't matter. "I like how you take my breath away," he murmurs, eyes bright with anticipation.
